Kryptonite is a real favorite color for me. It is bright but not overstated, and its transparency gives it a lot of visual flexibility. In
the sphere I have on this site it is nicely complemented by the lavender, which has a similar level of saturation. I wanted to create a dynamic mottled color effect that would have subtle changes as the piece is viewed from different angles. By using two hues that are transparent and on the same half of the color wheel, arranging them somewhat randomly, and then putting them on top of each
other in the form of small bumps, I maximized the subtle dynamism of the colors while maintaining a harmonious whole. (Posted on 8/4/09)
